MDN Sponsors Cocoa With Love

With companies in the community now sponsoring MDN it felt right and proper that MDN should also sponsor other worthy works within the Mac and iPhone developer community and that’s why I am really pleased to announce that MDN is now a sponsor of Matt Gallagher’s excellent “Cocoa With Love” blog.
During the recent MDN Community Award for 2009 Matt received almost 9% of the vote for his efforts producing Cocoa With Love. Here are some of the comments I received about Matt and his blog during the award voting.
There are perhaps more ‘visible’ options, but I think Matt’s blog is probably the best cocoa blog there is, and he probably doesn’t get the attention he deserves. Always excellent articles, and they go deeper than most.
With no doubt, this should be Matt Gallagher, of cocoawithlove.com. The guy is posting extremely useful code, every damn week or more often. And these are not code snippets – these are full fledged applications that you can pick up, compile and analyze to the core. His example have been very useful to the development of my two applications.
I don’t know where Matt came from (other than Australia); his blog seemed to have come out of the blue without me having heard of his work beforehand. But he has consistently put out deep, enlightening and entertaining posts and IMHO had a significant effect on Mac coding worldwide.
For me, in the last year Matt Gallagher has provided some of the most in depth articles on Cocoa development. While others have also provided very good, often great, pieces on a regular basis, Matt’s always seem to be conveyed such that even if the reader is not familiar with the subject beforehand, they are still enlightened. In depth and knowledgeable articles which are delivered with no sense of arrogance, encouraging really learning the fundamentals of objective-c, Cocoa and programming in general; I hope he can write many more this year.
Like his blog’s name, Matt does development with love. He provides excellent tips, tricks, tutorials on his site that is absolutely invaluable to many beginner Mac and iPhone developers – all for gratis. I stumbled onto his site while researching the iPhone SDK. The site, through his posts, has given me a deeper insight into how Cocoa-development should be and has made me a better iPhone developer. But it’s more than just hosting a site to share your knowledge with, it’s the care taken to provide interesting, thought-provoking ways about going about doing something in a particular way. His methods and techniques are world class and clearly shows he is a legendary developer.
I would like to nominate Matt Gallagher for his “Cocoa with Love” blog which is to me one of the most technical and well written blog regarding iPhone and Mac development with Cocoa. Matt updates his blog on a regular basis with detailed articles on various topics I rarely see covered on other web sites. These articles always show how to solve problems we all encounter but are not clearly documented by Apple or anyone else. So instead of “re-inventing” the wheel, why not benefit from the expertise of somebody like Matt?
Cocoa with Love is a high quality, high reputation blog and it’s a real privilege for MDN to be involved in its production as a sponsor.
